The Santa Barbara Mining Trail

The Santa Barbara Mining Trail is a circular route approximately 500 km long that crosses south-western Sardinia, divided into about thirty stages connecting natural landscapes, historic villages and industrial archaeology sites.

One of the central stages, stage 6, which runs from Piscinas to Montevecchio, winds for about 19 km through holm oak woods, Mediterranean scrub and disused mining sites, with a significant elevation gain and a walking time of several hours at a hiking pace.

Miniera Fiorita is located right next to the route of this stage, and for those walking the trail, it can be used as a refreshment point, logistical support and a place to stamp their stage credential before continuing.
